Catalina... and the Southern Cal Triangle |
| After cruising the triangle between Catalina Island, Newport Beach, and Long Beach for a couple months while helping the folks, someone got the "great idea" to find a place to settle down for a while. We put applications in with the Harbor Department at Two Harbors on Catalina Island, and got lucky -- two jobs and a mooring for Kiapa. Moral? Careful what you wish for... Susan worked on the "pier" in the harbor office while I "patroled" Cat Harbor. The summer went fast. Catalina is beautiful, and we met some great folks there. We had hoped to enjoy the beautiful Southern California fall in the channel islands, but family challenges took center stage for the next few months. We did manage side trips to Channel Islands Harbor and Santa Barbara Island. When signs of winter appeared, Kiapa sailed south to Mexico.
